I love this guitar app I tried a few before and did some online lessons but none has brought me as far as Gibson I feel like I'm learning something everyday I'm also the winner of the Flying V Christmas guitar contest so my hard work is paying off thank you Gibson highly recommend this app

I have tried two other competitor's apps over the years, Fender and True Fire. After putting the guitar down for a year or two, I've been back at it with Gibson for a month. It works for me. Having the instant feedback has sped up my progress and allows me to see and hear when I'm making a mistake. For the price of a few in person lessons, this is an absolute bargain. Highly recommend you use this on an iPad.

I've never played the guitar before, so when I had one bought for me I needed a lot of help! This app is absolutely brilliant and coaches myself from not knowing anything about guitar to being able to play basic tunes and chords. I've had the app for nearly a year and use it almost daily. It's amazing to be able to see your own progression through the lessons. One slight criticism is that I've come to lesson 3 in strumming which requires multiple fat chord changes with also a difficulty strumming pattern. It seems such a large step up from the previous lesson that it has totally blocked my progress. The lessons are normally well paced and challenging, but this particular lesson is so very difficult I'm blocked. Luckily there is so much else to do that it's easy to find something and make progress, so I'm doing the finger picking guides which are fantastic and well paced. All in all a fantastic app and one that I will easily renew my subscription. I do hope that there are updates to the strumming lessons to break it down a little more! Thanks Gibson!

I am learning how to play guitar since a couple of years and I have been trying basically all the "best" apps in the market. This app is the best of them all big time… and I am finally learning how to play guitar while I am having a lot of fun. Definitely super recommended.

I wish they had this when I was a kid. You can take the lessons in your own time when they give you all the tips and tricks you're looking for repeatedly so you don't forget.

I picked the guitar back up after a 20 year break because my daughter wanted to learn how to play. This app is simply amazing! It got me back to where I was prior to putting it down then before I knew it I was better than I was years ago. The lessons are easy to navigate. The song library is plentiful but if theory or genres are your thing there is plenty to do. I wish this technology was around years ago and I might not have put the guitar down. Not only is it filled with lessons, tips, tricks, etc. it turns your iPad or iPhone into an amp. If you are traveling for work or pleasure, plug into your phone. I look to be a subscriber for years to come! I am looking forward to progressing with the fun tools they provide.

Been playing chords for many years but was never able to get my fingers apart to play solos and that sort of thing. This app has taken my guitar playing to a whole new level. Thanks to the devs!

I've had a sentimental guitar for about 10 years and every time I try to pick it up (with or without an instructor) I put it right back down and lament how I wish it would just "come to me." As a middle-aged person learning guitar for the first time, this app intimidated me for too long. I finally decided to give it a sincere effort and am so glad I did. This is the best app I have used (and I have tried many different apps.) The lessons are well done and the quality of instruction is excellent. I really enjoy connecting my guitar and amp to the app, playing along with songs and lessons, and getting immediate and accurate feedback about my performance.

Hands down the best app on the market today and I have advanced so much with this app. And now with the original tabs/chords, it's literally my favourite app and I highly recommend this app for anyone. Simple to use and easy to follow.

I've taken private guitar lessons in the past but with the state of the economy, I wanted to find something more economical - that I would actually stick with. I've tried numerous online courses, and apps. This is the first one that has really held my interest. I love how interactive it is, and how much variety it has. I love that it "listens" to you and tells you how you're doing. And believe it or not, I actually like that you have to do well enough on something to advance to the next section. It gives me a goal to reach for, which pushes me beyond "well it's good enough." I'm so happy with this app, and highly recommend it to others.

I started playing a little over a year ago with videos and other apps but progress was slow and haphazard. Then I tried this app and WOW…what a difference. I started with the solo track for the first few months and really started to get the feel for my guitar. It was not a race to finish for me so I did not move onto the next lesson until I was comfortable with the previous lesson. I then started the rhythm track and do a little of both each day. I am approaching 1m xp and can feel my abilities improving at a faster and faster pace. The new updates are fun but I do miss the video record option. Keep up the good work!

I've played basic guitar off and on for the last 30 years. This app has not only helped me rediscover the joy of playing an instrument but has also taken my skills to new heights in a pedagogical and fun way. I even learned picking which is something I've always struggled with. And who doesn't want to play a duet with Mark Knopfler? I really recommend it no matter your skill level. 46 years old and learning guitar for first time with app. I have zero musical background and thought this would be impossible! Best app I have paid for—well worth it.

Not only is the app great, so is the support. Mentioned the small glitches and they promptly reached out to have them addressed. These were small glitches but the response was awesome. Highly recommend!

I tried several apps before settling on Gibson. It's much better than the other apps in terms of lesson structure, technique content and song selection. Yes, some lessons are harder but with the slow down speed control and practice you'll be surprised what you can achieve. My timing and technique are much improved because of the live lesson feedback when playing. They also regularly add new lessons and songs. So haven't run out of choice in a year.

Huge amount of content, instructional videos, songs, tabs, techniques… by far the best guitar training app I ever used. Updated constantly as well. Great job Gibson!

I've learned so much from this app. Didn't realize I was learning, was just having fun going through the lessons and learning songs, but my skills have greatly improved. I use the iRig HD X interface on an iPad while I Bluetooth the audio to a Spark 40 amp. Very rarely do I have any issues. If it ever does lag, a quick reboot of the app usually fixes it. I have so much fun on this app, can't recommend it enough. It's pricey, but you get a lot for your money, as long as you use it.

Great app! The lessons are really well done and organized. Having the songs in the background to play along to really helps and makes the usual boring practice a lot of fun.

Articulate, easy to use, smooth, I didn't spot any lag, most of the stuff is free (unlike the Fender app) and the whole map system is superb.

Amazing and encouraging app! I tried another similar competition app, but quickly got bored. Gibson has very different approach, more details in theory, nice structure of lessons. I really always wait when I come back home and be able to launch it. Gaming style makes it fun to practice and don't give up. Of course it's probably not for advanced players, but for novices like me — you probably won't find any other so motivational and fun lessons.

I've tried out a bunch of the different guitar apps and this one is hands down the best. I like that they don't just throw you into using all 6 strings in the first two main courses or starting chords immediately. I think this approach actually gets you used to playing single strings quickly and pick up finger dexterity and speed that you'll need before diving into more complex lessons. Design is great too with the ability to slow the speed and look at the whole tab before playing. I'm excited for the new music theory course too, which will help me better grasp what I'm playing.

Dear Gibson, Thank you so much for the service you provide, your app is absolutely wonderful and is a great jumping off point for aspiring guitarists, I found that my path would progress better with an in person teacher so I am choosing not to continue as money is tight and it's a little too expensive to do both. Your app is an absolutely amazing way to get new people into guitar and to have accessible lessons for people who aren't fortunate enough to have the luxury of paying a professional for lessons. I think it's one of the most wonderful things someone can do, making music accessible to the majority of the public and I find it very noble that you've created an app for that cause. Sometimes when we have very little hope, music is all we have. It's a beautiful thing to share it with everyone. The app is easy to use and easy to navigate and I think it's great for beginner guitarists in particular. I heard about it through a student and I myself am a little too old to say for sure, but I've noticed that the kids I teach that also play love how it feels a little like a video game. They find it more engaging than regular practice. Thank you so much for the services you provide and I hope you continue to teach many future rockstars for years to come

I bought a guitar the day before I turned 40. I had many people tell me why are you doing that you are starting way too late. I downloaded this app a week later and I have been playing for an hour or more every day for the past 30 days. It is so much fun. I love this app.

This Gibson learning app is amazing and it is light years ahead of the Justin Guitar lessons app. Yes I paid for both subscriptions to compare them. Lol. I wanted to make sure that I using my time efficiently. In short, I won't be renewing my subscription to Justin no matter how cheap it is. For reference, I'm an adult beginner with no significant prior music experience other than signing karaoke with friends. With just one week's worth of Gibson lessons, I am comfortably using 3 fingers and two strings. More to come for sure :). This app is rewarding and designed in such a way that practice is truly fun. The Ai interface and leaderboard makes it feel like practice isn't work at all. It's enjoyable, you get to anonymously compete with other beginners with earned practice points, and at the same time it challenges you to improve. Sometimes I find myself planning for a 30 minute practice time, then look up to see that 1.5 hrs has gone by. It's rewarding. and I recommend it without reservation.

This is still the best app on the market. All features are awesome and customer support is fantastic. Highly recommended

Simply the best guitar app out there. Makes me wanna pick up the instrument all the time.

At first it seems like it was tailored for electric guitars but you just have to choose the right lesson. I love the new stop n go feature. I love playing fast songs but its challenging to keep pace. With the stop n go feature it lets me correct my mistakes and actually learn from my mistakes instead of just playing over and over till i get it right.

If you are looking for a fun interactive guitar learning app, this is excellent. I have used both this and fender play. While the Fender app is good, the lessons often times felt tedious. These lessons are fun and more like playing guitar hero. So far I am enjoying this app a lot.

I am really enjoying the app. It really took me over the hump I have been in from self-learning on YouTube over the past few years.

I have about 3 months with the app, every time I gets me submerge into a different world where only my guitar, the song, and I are there. Completely fascinated with app, the lessons' structure, and with the coaches. And yes, I have improved on my guitar skills. Thank you

This app is amazing. Easy to understand and use. In a few short weeks, had some basics down to start playing with confidence. I had zero guitar experience except for a few failed attempts to learn back in college. The apps approach to learning is great and you can go real deep into music theory if you choose to. The team running the app also does a great job adding new music across varying skill levels, keeping things fresh, exciting and challenging.

I cannot read music. This app makes learning the guitar very easy. I have struggled for years and with the app my progress is skyrocketing.

As a self proclaimed "noodler" for years, no lessons, either inline or in person, kept me interested. As a person with adult ADHD, I need constant input and feedback. This app gives me that. I log in 5 times a week, and always spend at least an hour enjoying the experience.

I used youscian for many years and I can play guitar. Youscian is a great app in its own right, however this app is really stressing the importance of working out bad habits. For example this app is less forgiving and is forcing me get more accurate on my fretboard. I can already tell that my timing and overall control on the fretboard is more accurate already after One day of practice… and this is just running through the beginning tutorial. Very happy.

I am close to 50 yo, female and just learning how to play the electric guitar for the first time. This is the easiest instrumental app that I have ever used! It's actually fun to play all of my favorite songs from the 80s right from the beginning! Being able to play along with my favorite songs, even in the first and second lesson made learning fun and easy. This app really keeps me wanting to come back and continue learning! I never thought it could be this fun! I really don't feel like a beginner at all! In just the first two lessons , I felt like I was actually playing my guitar. I was also worried about how quickly I would learn as I age, but this feels like it is so easy with this app. It has been worth every penny!

This is the best app I have found yet! I do it every day and I have had amazing growth and it is cheaper than the other apps!

I played the drums for 15 years loved it and always wanted to learn the guitar but it was intimidating to me. Never ended up taking formal classes and the money my dad spent on a squire strat went out the window all those years ago. Im 27 now just picked up a guitar have been using youtube and tabs but this is by far the most fun ive had and most progress ive seen playing an instrument since i picked up a set of drumsticks. Its legit like a video game ill recommend it to everyone and im having the time of my life playing even the most basic stuff here. Shoutout Gibson man this is revolutionary stuff!

I tried Simply Guitar first and it was not helpful to me. I love that Gibson starts with fingers and positioning and then strumming. Before trying to make chord shapes. It's a little pricey but I think well worth every penny. And I love learning to play along with some of my favorite song

I started a year and a half ago and am already on the advanced courses. This app is incredible. Love the scale workouts and all the new guides, please keep them coming. Using an iRig 2 to wire in to the app, the effects are really nice. Bring back Metallica and Pink Floyd though, please!

This app is awesome and even though there are so many out there and lots of lessons on YouTube that are free. The way the lessons are structured in this app from basic finger picking and chords, learning your favourite songs in basic and advanced versions makes progression so so easy. I'm a beginner and I highly recommend this app. It's not free but so worth the spend. I've had it now for 3 years and will keep using it. It's very professionally done and well put together.

I wish I could give more stars. Hands down, the best app for learning guitar and everything you need to know without feeling overwhelmed.

If you're a beginner or want to get better at guitar, you'll benefit from this app a lot! I'd suggest adding the famous songs package. It's getting much better every day with new guides and songs.

I have tried many play-along guitar learning apps and this is the only one that helped me when I was stuck. Really smart way of learning scales.

Great instructors that do an amazing job of breaking down songs into learnable chunks. The gaming version for the tabs is really useful. I think my timing got better ha ha. The Chicago Blues course on this app is a fav!!

I've had a guitar for 20 years and nothing stuck—books, Udemy, YouTube, nothing. I've been using this for two weeks now and am seeing real progress. Started at 80–90% of notes and improving quickly. Went back to beginner lessons and I'm 100%ing songs on the first try. It's spendy, but cheaper than a teacher and it works. Starts you slowly: E string, then B, adding frets, fingers, etc.

After years of just noodling finally found an app that gives me the structure needed to actually progress in my guitar playing.

I subscribed in July 2025 and was skeptical at first, but it has been amazing. I've tried nearly all online options. This app is different and offers immediate feedback on notes and rhythm. Wonderful videos, lessons broken into sections, huge song selection. It's fun, but you still need to practice—a lot.
