Lick 1

Lick 1

Mastering the Double Stop Bend

Our first lick introduces the double stop bend, a technique where two notes are played, and one is bent up in pitch. This creates a satisfying resolution, especially over specific chords. Slash uses this expressive style in tracks like 'November Rain' and 'Sweet Child O' Mine'. To play this lick, fret the 15th fret of the B string, with your first finger on the 13th fret and your second finger on the 14th fret for strength. Bend the note up by a whole tone and add your little finger on the 15th fret of the top E string. This technique is powerful and expressive, perfect for C Major and A minor chords.

Putting It All Together

After mastering the double stop bend, bend up another whole tone on the B string, release, and resolve to the 13th fret. Pay attention to bending the B string up to pitch by a whole tone. Practice this lick with a click track, repeating it four times. This powerful lick is a staple in Slash's solos, offering a rich, expressive sound.
